One of the pleasures that I enjoy so much in this world is going out to eat. A lot of times we take it for granted. I look back towards memories and think of some great experiences I have had. This brings back a memory that Renee recorded that I wanted to share. There was a period during our relationship where Renee worked at Walmart during the day and worked overnights at TA. It was a fun time. Those who know me know I try to have fun no matter what job I have.
Renee never once argued about working there. I remember telling her that when she got her next promotion she had to promise me that she would only work one job. She agreed to that. It wasn't that she had to work the second job, but she wanted to so we could afford more. She always loved working. No matter the challenges that a work place would provide, she would rise above. That was one of her skills. She was great interacting with her fellow employees as well.
It was funny because I remember one of our coworkers saying that working overnight wasn't worth it. Renee would just smile and say "I'll take that shift". She'd put in the work and come out the other side with amazing tips. I often worked beside her until midnight as a prep cook. It got to the point where people were looking for her as a server and me as a prep cook to know that the food they would get would be great plus the service excellent. We had recieved many compliments and Renee knew the key to good tips was to listen to people and make them feel like it wasn't just "dinner". They felt at home and could laugh/joke. I can remember all the funny stories. I remember one of the drivers saying to her that her boyfriend must not like you working here getting flirted with. I remember her laughing at that. She would tell them that not only did he not mind, but he was here. She'd introduce me and we'd laugh about it together. We made them feel like they had come home for the weekend. That's what made it truly special for them. In the end, she always treated every guest who came in as if they were a friend just talking to another who was hosting them.
When one couple came through and enjoyed the food and the service, they decided to compliment us in one of the best ways you can
at a resturant. As Renee put it...

Me Bobby Russ and Jacob Thornberry rock... $20 a piece from this nice couple who said the service and food were the best they had...
Renee never forgot her time as a server (either at TA or previously at Applebee's) and would also give respect to them. These type of tips stick with people long as the diners leave. Renee knew how to appreciate others and she worked hard to show that appreciation in one form or another.
