September 4: Bobby Russ
Having lived in Florida all my life, I never really sought out new beaches. It was one of those things that there were plenty of them around. So, why look for another one? I can list off numerous
beaches in Florida that I've been to without really thinking that hard. I've been spoiled that way.
When Renee Row moved down here, she was not as spoiled as I. So, she wanted to find a beach that was close to us that she could enjoy. After some research, she found Fort Island Beach in Crystal River. It was a place that we went to from time to time to enjoy time at the beach.
It's also a place that she took many different visitors that we've had over the years including Heather, Jen, her mom, etc. It was a place she was proud of and it got to be known as Renee's beach. It was her special place to be able to put on a swimsuit and be silly.... cause we all know Renee could never, ever be silly. lol
She enjoyed the water which was clear and along the way there are trails (with signs to learn and read!). I can still remember the excitement on her face when I went with her to the beach. It was a treat and it was one of those simple pleasures I had taken for granted having lived here all my life.
Today, I visited the beach in her honor. I thought to myself how much she would enjoy seeing the beach again, soaking up some of the sun rays that were beaming, and dipping herself into the warm water. Thank you for reminding me of one of the many simple pleasures that we often forget that we have.
